Snowboarding has been gaining in popularity for a number of years now and ski resorts are responding by offering awesome outdoor packages for enthusiasts. For those who are truly into the winter sports than snowboarding in Southern California is a must, especially in the Big Bear Lake area and at the Big Bear Mountain Resorts. Big Bear actually offers two different resort experiences for the price of one and both are sure to make any snowboarder happy.

When snowboarding at Big Bear Ski Resorts you can purchase one lift ticket but have access to both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Together these resorts have over 438 useable acres of snowboarding terrain. This includes 55 runs and 26 different lifts. The Big Bear Resorts are two miles apart but snowboarders can easily get to one or the other using a free express shuttle service.

Snow Summit is an Alpine style resort with a traditional feel to it. This is also a great place to take the kids because they offer a Family Park for slower, beginner snowboarders that spans five different runs. There are also runs for boarders who are more advanced like their Olympic runs, The Wall, and Dicky’s. Snow Summit also offers lift and lodging packages starting at just $69. These great options that will get you on the hill without maxing out your credit card!

Bear Mountain is also a fabulous place to do some snowboarding boasting the region’s largest beginner area with the “most progressive teaching terrain, equipment and techniques.” Bear Mountain is more of a youthful snowboarding environment with 120 jibs, 100 snow features, and the only superpipe in Southern California. And not only can you get regular snowboarding lessons here, but for intermediate to advanced riders ages 8 years or older, you can enjoy lessons at their Freestyle Camp where you can learn tricks and special maneuvers from trained professionals and coaches.

Lift tickets for these resorts can run as low as $59 for an adult for a day pass, $118 for a peak weekend specials which includes two consecutive days, or $349 for a season pass that will allow you to enjoy both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. If you are really curious about the parks you can log onto the Snow Summit website and check out their daily pictures, or even watch their live web cam shots.

There is no doubt that snowboarding can be a blast at any age. And with the ability to experience two awesome Southern California ski resorts in one, it is definitely worth a trip to the Big Bear Ski Resort! So no matter if you are an expert boarder looking for a new adventure, or a new boarder looking to start your snow sport fun, take a day or weekend and head to the Big Bear Lake area.
