Xpat

I founded Xpat Magazine, a Taiwan-wide all-English quarterly arts and culture magazine, in the spring of 2005 with the website www.xpatmag.com. The magazine's first print edition came out the following December with a print run of four thousand copies distributed in three of Taiwan's four largest cities. I ran Xpat for three years, which, at its peak, increased to five thousand copies distributed in every major city.

During my time at Xpat I always worked as managing editor, art director and sales manager, wrote about 30 percent of the content, contributed photography and design, designed the majority of the advertising and, on some issues, did the majority of the layout.

I sold Xpat Magazine to EnglishInTaiwan.com in the fall of 2007. I continued to manage Xpat and hired and trained the new production staff, finally severing my major ties with the magazine in March, 2008, though I still contribute writing, photography and design and consult with them regularly.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing the new owners had not yet re-launched Xpat's website, so it isn't available for viewing online. Below you can download low-res PDF versions of all of the back issues produced under my direction. And, as long as its o.k. with the new owners, I will continue to post new issues as they are published.
